
The Town of Tyrone is pleased to announce that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved a $2.41 million Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) award to upgrade the Lake Pendleton Dam to meet Georgia DNR Safe Dams Program Category 1 Standards.
This critical infrastructure improvement project will enhance the safety and resilience of the dam, reducing the risk of flooding and ensuring long-term protection for our community.
The funding breakdown for the project is as follows:
✅ Federal Share: $1,807,500
✅ Local Share: $602,500
✅ Subrecipient Management Costs: $21,000
"We are grateful for this investment in the Town's infrastructure," said Brandon Perkins, Town Manager. "This grant allows us to take proactive steps to reduce potential risks and ensure that Lake Pendleton Dam meets the highest safety standards."
The grant is awarded on behalf of Governor Brian P. Kemp and will be administered in coordination with FEMA and state emergency management officials.
